Unprecedented performance for a small woofer is packed into 7" ES180Ti-8, thanks to an FEA-optimized motor assembly using a large neodymium ring magnet and heavy dual copper shorting rings. Dayton Audio's Esoteric Series' woofer motor geometry is designed to provide a powerful, stable field with excellent saturation and symmetry, expanding the usable range of excursion.
The huge 3" diameter voice coil is edgewound using rectangular copper-coated aluminum wire (CCAW) for maximal winding density within the coil profile, and the ventilated titanium voice coil former transfers energy to the cone with incredible speed while contributing added stiffness to the cone itself. A woven glass-fiber cone couples acoustic energy to the air with excellent stiffness and self-damping, while its shallow profile minimizes cavity resonance. The Klippel-optimized suspension is designed to allow high excursion of the cone without distortion, and the voice coil leads are woven into the spider to prevent mechanical resonance. The structure of the driver is supported by a fully ventilated cast aluminum frame for supreme mechanical stability without internal compression.
All of these elements combine to create a driver that breaks new ground with superb transient response and ultra-low distortion. By breaking free from established design conventions and rethinking how each part of the driver should behave, the ES140Ti-8 consistently delivers a musically accomplished performance, time after time. Itís designed to work perfectly with the ES25Nd-8 1Ē ring-dome tweeter to create a high-performance loudspeaker system, and the 8-ohm impedance makes it a natural choice for center channel MTM use as well.
